For the artists

I must recommend the 6/02 issue of Natural History magazine. In an
article titled,"A Beautiful Hand", botanist Rob Nicholson discusses the South
American jungle paintings of Frederic Church (1826-1900). Church, who was the
next-door neighbor of the Osborns (HF, not Ozzie) was America's favorite
painter and when his latest gigantic painting would go on tour it was greeted
by the public much like a new Star Wars movie is today. There are some
terrific reproductions in the article, especially a "sketch" in oils of a
tree fern that is a tour-de-force. A magic brush. His paintigs need big
dinosaurs.
There's also a brief feature about Tyrannosaurus' ability to run
that's a rehash of what you've heard already. DV
