What was probably the first-ever life restoration of Kakuru was painted by
Mark Hallett in his panorama of new Australian dinosaurs, published as the
frontispiece to my article on new dinosaur discoveries in the August 1981
issue of Science Digest (alas, now defunct). We decided to give it a
downy-feathery integument in view of the close relationship between theropods
and birds, but otherwise, having nothing to go on but the distal tibia, he
made it look like a generalized small theropod.
