* First, Stegosaurs and Ankylosaurs are not related, not even closely.<
Interesting...I have a book from the 60's that shows stegosaurs belonging to
neither Ornithischia nor Saurischia, but being an odd 3rd grouping within
the Dinosauria...
*
I had just read that yesterday, and found it amusing. Who would know that
the classification of stegosaurs would arise today on list, with an equally
non-traditional view.
A serious note: If _Scelidosaurus_ is an ankylosaur, what is
_Scutelosaurus_?
The book, for those interested, is:
Wonders of the Dinosaur World, by William H. Matthews III. Dodd, Mead &
Company, New York. 1963.
Peace,
Rob
* I don't know but wouldn't mind looking into it later on. One MAJOR thing
that artist get completely wrong is that Scutelosaurus has a double row of
scutes down the back not a single. This is a typical 'primitive' condition.
