It's not the "internet" that is playing havoc, it is HUMAN BEINGS.
The internet didn't sent information to this list, a person did.
On the other hand, maybe I'm wrong. Do you have an e-mail address for The Internet so I can send he/she/it an e-mail and gripe about this s'more?
I guess I just think it's a matter of courtesy to the people who spent "n" years doing the work and research to let them get the opportunity to actually publish.
In this case, it's less than 24 hours now, and a respected American museum had "removed" the photos from their website so maybe it doesn't matter that there is no paper to accompany them and explain what they are.
One supposes no irreparable harm has been done. It's all just a lot of idle speculation based upon half-baked ideas based upon half truths and rumors. And a bunch of pictures released 24 hours early to supposedly sympathetic fans.
On the other hand, certain publications love to pick up on bits and pieces of speculation and blow them out of proportion. That happens anyway, no matter what people do to prevent it. But then again, this is a "scientific" list, isn't it? Or was it taken over by "Ain't it cool news?" when I wasn't looking. The internet hard at work.
