Then there is that "speed up" idea. THEY WERE SLOW. Unless you want to engage in special pleading relative to nerve transmission speed and muscle composition/capability, that is the presumption.
At those masses the momentum would still be great even if slow.
Although they might have made great sumo wrestlers.
