I meant to say CASSOWARY, not Emu (was Re: Emus a Model for Dinosaurs? )
My brain is malfunctioning. Of course, the nasty bird
with the big defensive claw is NOT an EMU, but a
CASSOWARY!!
Speaking of which, any opinions on whether the
Cassowary is another good subject for this test
comparison?

Having worked with Emus before, I will say that the
disposition depends on the bird. At my zoo we had a
really gentle older bird, a male, who you could walk up
to and pick up. The female with him was known for
being a little crazy, and after she died the
replacement female was as skiddish as a cockroach in
sunlight. This may be a little nit-picky, but I love
Emus and hate to see them get a bad rap. ;)
