Fortunately, there are organizations such as Project Exploration
(www.projectexploration.org) that specifically target both young woman and
minority students in order to spark and develop an interest in science --
particularly paleontology.  As a longtime supporter of the Project
Exploration's Junior Paleontologist (JP) Program, it is very exciting to see
JP's, upon high school graduation, get accepted to prestigious universities.
