Bill Scheele Images
For you youngsters out there who do not know the art of the late,
great Bill Scheele, there are two of his books from about 50 years ago at eBay.
A
number of his very interesting drawings are shown. I do not know whether or
not he invented this style, but note the technique of superimposing the
skeletal
reconstruction in the silhouette of the fleshed-out animal that's become
standard operating proceedure today. I vividly remember the Christmas morning
(1957, I think) when I got Scheele's _Prehistoric Animals_, RCA's _All About
Strange Beasts of the Past_ and a box of Abbeon porcelain dinosaurs with a red
and
white sticker attacted saying "Warning! Dinosaurs! Handle with Care! I got so
excited I threw up. I get very nostalgic this time of year...DV
