Is it legal to dig for and sell fossils and bones in the UK?

I came across a site by a Ken Mannion who prepares and sells fossils and has 
done, so he says, since 1980. In the blurb by one specimen he claims 
'science' was the winner but gives no indication of how.
I don't know if I should post a link to his site for legal reasons, but 
could someone do a search and reassure me? (I know this business is 
prevalent in the USA, but is it okay here? -forgive my naivety)
