Folks, I don't understand something. Modern small mammals and birds have
big dispersive abilities and quite easily colonise other continents
especially if empty ecological niches are present. So how comes that
ancient mammals and birds supposedly each stayed on a single continents
for long enough to be sure, where each group comes from?
I feel that linking each bird and mammal clade with a single continent is
a little fanciful, perhaps coming from incomplete fossil record suggesting
limited distribution...
