RE: T. rex and other large carnosaurs"
My understanding was that this manuscript was around in a almost complete
state for something like 10 or 20 years! This could explain, but not
excuse, the obsolete phylogeny.

Randall Irmis

Madsen Jr., J.H. and Welles, S.P. (2000). Ceratosaurus (Dinosauria,
Theropoda), a revised osteology. Utah Geological Survey Miscellaneous
Publications (MP-00-2): 80 p.
Yes, Samuel Welles, describer of Dilophosaurus.
I think it was peer-reviewed. It's actually a very detailed paper, with
great illustrations. It's just the phylogeny that is mind-bogglingly
obsolete. Oh, and they apparently couldn't figure out that it was Paul
(1988) who assigned Megalosaurus ingens to Ceratosaurus. :-)>>
