Not just anythihng: as used in the herpetoculture world, it refers to a flap
of skin running under the chin, which is basically a permanent feature.
Dewlaps are supported by bone and/or cartilage, which serves to extend or
retract teh dewlap as needed. They are distinguished from throat fans in that
throat fans arenot supported by any skeletal feature, they are dispalyed by
pure muscle action. HTH. Some dinosaurs may or may not have had dewlaps, but
if any had throat fans, there would be no osteological evidence.
