Yep, you're right.  RCA did do some intelligence work, along with a bunch of 
interesting stuff.  He also had what was probably one of the nicest homes in 
China for several years (you have to see the pictures of this place!).  I did 
read the book, and I particularly like the stories of his hanging around opium 
dens (just for the conversation!).  It is a very, very good read.  RCA was an 
extraordinary guy, who likely did more for the science than any "real" 
paleontologist ever has.  I mean, he motivated Dan Varner!
