Maybe this is a joke, but whatever:
As of the 1999 edition, the ICZN now does not permit a change to be made
to any genus or species nomen, even if the name is coined incorrectly with
the exception of gross error in publication. This includes, as is
specifically stated (I don't have the article and paragraph down before
me), species gender endings. *Sinovenator changii* cannot, under the
present rules, be modified to effect "Sinovenator changi[ae]."
