that the famous pregnant ichthyosaurs are from Germany, but not from the
"Solnhofen Shales" (which are plated limestones), but from the Holzmaden
Shales (real, black, oily shales this time). :-)<<

Which is not to imply that Dan himself is Early to Late Jurassic, even though
his paintings do seem have have been done from life. Hmm...
