It was a really interesting program, with the best aspects of paleontology
and the new dinosaur finds. It was great to see some people on the program
whom you never see on this type of show including Kevin Padian (who did
consult on the pterosaurs in JP3), Wann Langston, Hans Sues, and Patricia
Jones-Bowman on Quetz flight mechanics. Mark Norell and Alan Feduccia, not
surprisingly, had differing opinions on birds and/or/are dinosaurs.
< It was all about Jurassic Park 3 and had Horner doing the foam sculpting
bit, talking about Spinosaurus, a look at his "Valley of the T.rexes", in
fact it was kind
of a Jack Horner love fest. There was a lot with Stan Winston and the effects
crew (the cgi tyrannosaur/Spinosaur fight) along with Padian and Wann
Langston on the pterosaurs. >
Unless the _T. rex_ threw the fight on purpose, it clearly had a lock on
Spino's neck a couple of times. Considering that a segment early in the
program had shown that a _T. rex_ bite strength was 3000 psi and actually
could have torn up a vehicle, it would have finished the fight with one bite.
< Lots more, besides. They will be re-running it on Saturday at 6 PM
Eastern. >
The program made JP3 look better than it actually was but is a good
advertisement for the film and paleontology.
