Typical how such a series can in fact be quite different in tone with
a different narrator. Apart from Brannagh I've heard the Dutch and
Belgium versions (missed the German one), and they all are slightly
different even though they (alsmost) litterally tell the same tale
with exactly the same images.

By the way, as far as I know the Dutch version is the only one so far
with a female narrator ("narratrice"): the actrice Monique van de
Ven, maybe known from the movie Turks Fruit (Turkish Delight) among
others.
