There is a Pompeii like paleo site. At the Burpee fest, Kirk Johnson talked
about a site near the Lance formation, I think. A near by volcano completely
entombed the flora, leaving a 3-D picture in volcanic ash. The ash layer was
10 feet thick, and everything was perfectly preserved. He made no mention of
any fauna being trapped in this ash, though.
