*** Creature's killer claw boosts dinosaur-bird theory

Remains of an ancient creature with a killer claw and a long bony
tail is the strongest evidence yet that birds evolved from dinosaurs,
scientists reported Thursday. "We are reporting a new species that
provides further support that birds descended from dinosaurs," Luis
Chiappe, a research associate at the American Museum of Natural
History, said. Catherine Forster, an assistant professor of anatomy
at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, said the species,
named Rahona ostromi, had a sickle-shaped "slashing foot," which it
used to hunt. She said this was a feature unique to dinosaurs. See
