 Whoa! Hold up a bit. I suppose you are thinking about the idea that 
cranes (Gruiformes) are ancestral to or related to diatrymids. Well, 
first of all storks are in a different order of birds all together, the 
Ciconiiformes. And second of all, Gastrornithiformes ( diatrymids : this 
order may be "sunk" soon ) are related to ducks ( Anseriformes ) and are 
united in the Anserimorphae. See my _Takahe and Diatrymia_ post.
