Introduction

Hi,

I'm new on this list, so let me introduce myself to you.
I'm living in Germany, 30 years old and working at the law school of
the University of the Saarland at Saarbruecken/Germany.
I'm a dinosaur-buff since I was 6 years old, when I've got a small
pocket book about dinosaurs with lots of pictures by Rudolph Zallinger
(I've forgot the authors name). In the last years I tried to get
everything about dinosaurs you can get here in germany - that's not
a lot stuff, too bad. Most books are written for children, and they
don't deal with the latest informations. Only a few books are very good,
between them only three written by germans: "Dinosaurs of Germany" (Probst),
"Pterodactyls" (Wellnhofer - well, they are no dinosaurs - or are they??)
and "Europe in the past" by (???). Others are from Hsu and Raup.
Lot's of fantastic stuff I've got in the US (books by Horner, Bakker,
Paul and Czerkas). Germany seems to be a country with few dinosaur
remains, especially the Jurassic and the Cretaceous. Okay, for the
Jurassic, we've Compsognatus, Archaeopteryx and for the Cretaceous the 
famous Iguanodon, but beside this, we have only a few signs of dinosaur live 
- for example the famous footprints of Barkhausen, made by sauropod in the early
Cretaceous. Maybe the reason is that the region of todays Germany was
flooded during Jurassic and Cretaceous. 
I've followed the discussion about "Jurassic Park", with all its 
scientific errors.
But here are no people you can invite to discuss about dinosaurs,
so I decided to participate in this list.

So I hope there will be some nice and interesting discussions about
these fantastic animals.
