Oops. Yeah, I guess T without a period is correct, although T. Caneer shows up as well in some newsÂstories online. This obituary title has T. but it's T in the text.

What's a bit confusing is that some citations now omit periods after initials, which is standard spelling in American English, but no longer used that much in British spellings of names. I usually try to use American spellings and styles, such as acronyms that sound like words all upper case, so NASA in American style, Nasa in BBC stuff, etc. This was a case of overcorrecting to fit American style and spelling.

In the PDF these names are given as "T CANEER, TOM MOKLESTAD and SPENCER G. LUCAS": kl, not lk, and no dot after Caneer's T (compare David S Berman, whose middle name is S). I have no idea if these are actually typos, though; not many people are involved in the production of the NMMNH Bulletin, so such things probably slip through once in a while.
