Type specimen: USNM 6527, a partial skeleton, almost entire left maxilla, teeth frontal, posterior part of right presplenial, 1 posterior cervical vertebra and numerous fragments. Collected by L. C. Johnson; reposited in the USNM

Locality: Bogue Chitto prairies, Perry County, Alabama (32.5Â N, 87.4Â W: paleocoordinates 35.1Â N, 59.5Â W) aka: Globidens alabamaensis type locality

Horizon: Mooreville Chalk Formation, Arcola Limestone Member

Age: Late Cretaceous, Middle Campanian (~78.5-78.8 Ma)

Environment: marginal marine chalk

Ecology: aquatic carnivore
