Carroll Lane Fenton's (1900-1969) meticulously texture-detailed pen-and-ink drawings of dinosaurs from a late 1950s children's book (Prehistoric Zoo) written with his wife Mildred (1899-1995).ÂÂ

early photo of Carroll Lane Fenton

I've always liked his vivid drawings of prehistoric animals since I first discoveredÂthem around age 8 (with The Fossil Book at the library), especially dinosaurs and ancient reptiles (some dated details notwithstanding).

But some of his other art can be a bit wonky. His juvenile book about exploring the Moon Âfor instance... (I wouldn't even guess it's the same artist. I'll stick to Chesley Bonestell for vintage space art..)
