A complete right femur was unearthed from Late Jurassic Shishugou Formation, Qitai area of Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, which not only possesses typical titanosauriformes characteristics, but also some unique characteristics. The angle between the virtually extensional line of the most lateral bulge edge and the dorsally extensional line of the femoral head is about 127Â; the fourth trochanter is well developed and mound-shaped in lateral view; the fourth trochanter is located more proximally above the midpoint of the femur shaft and close to the inner side; the intercondyloid fossa is deep and U-shaped; the combined joint surfaces of the distal condyles is orthogonal to the long axis of the femoral shaft. Based on the unique anatomical characters, the comparisons with other titanosauriform femora discovered in China, and its geological and geographical distributions, the authors consider it as a new gigantic titanosauriform dinosaur and name as a new taxon Fushanosaurus qitaiensis gen. et sp. nov.
