Nope, prior use outside of taxonomic circles doesn't interfere with use within the technical literature.

Hence the ability to name taxa after (for instance) fictional characters: Venus, Cronopio, Mithrandir, etc.

Does this kind of usage and visibility place restrictions on the chosen name? Apparently not, just curious how the rules affect that.
