Figure 8 (Credit: Copyright AMNH Library 121779) is mislabeled. This isn't AMNH 5027; this is the holotype skull (at that time, AMNH 973). This skull was incomplete, and thus they had to reconstruct the rear of the skull without knowledge of what tyrannosaurids actually looked like. This incorrect version was retained when the specimen was transferred to the Carnegie Museum, and stayed like this for decades
