More on International Dimetrodon Day April 5... (I posted a video item yesterday for Prince Edward Island)Â
Whiteside Museum of Natural History features Dimetrodon, an ancient critter that roamed TexomaÂ
"Museum Director and paleontologist, Chris Flis, announced that April 5 has been declared International Dimetrodon Day! This was the day in 1878 when the word 'Dimetrodon' was first spoken in a public forum by E.D. Cope, one of the earliest to find and study this creature."

Life Lessons from Dimetrodon
****
A bit early for this, but there is also an International Iguana Awareness Day on September 8....
So, as a connection...
Rhinoceros iguanas dressed as oversized Dimetrodons in the 1959 movie Journey to the Center of the Earth (about 1:10 minutes into this clip, which has music instead of the original soundtrack, in which James Mason identifies the critters as Dimetrodons), back in the days of living lizards (suffering) in rubberized regalia rigged to play dinosaurs and other critters (such as Dimetrodons)... Don't know how some of the scenes were staged, such as herbivorous iguanas appearing to feast on a killed companion. Not much thought at the time about humiliating, harming, or even killing "lower" (non-mammal) animals for movie effects...
