What gets into some people?
--------------------------------------------------------------
BALTIMORE – Natural Resources Police are looking for information about the
killings of two bald eagles in Montgomery County.
Police say on Christmas Day, and eagle was shot and killed by a rifled in a
field at Georgia Avenue and Bordley Road in Brookville. On Saturday, a wounded
mature eagle was found near a home in Darnestown. The bird died, and an x-ray
showed it had been hit by bird shot.
The Department of Natural Resources says bald eagles are no longer protected as
an endangered species. But federal law requires that anyone wishing to shoot
bald eagles must get a permit from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Anyone with information about the shootings is urged to contact the Natural
Resources communications center at 410-260-8888.
