Automobile race threatens fossil cetaceans
The Dakar Rally, an 8400 kilometer race through Pru and Chinle, and
involving 460 vehicles, threatens to damage Miocene cetacean fossils.
The 2012 race caused considerable damage as the course ran directly over
the fossil beds. Complaints to the race organizers have generate little
interest. Pru's culture minster has said that the race will no
compromise the country heritage.
