An article about the discovery of sauropods in the Pyrenees that date
from the very end of the Maastrichtian, indicating that sauropods did
not die out gradually and supporting a sudden extinction event at the
end of the Cretaceous. This is related to an advance paper already
cited on the DML in June.

New ichthyosaur from Germany--the official scientific announcement
comes next Tuesday apparently, presumably as a new taxon. It is 6
meters long and dates from 170-175 million years ago, previously a gap
in the fossil record of ichthyosaur evolution for large forms.
