Cuban Late Jurassic vertebrate collections online: CUBANJURASSIC.uci.cu

Dear colleagues,
please find online (at: https://cubanjurassic.uci.cu/) the first version of the 
"Illustrative Catalogue of Late Jurassic Vertebrates from Western Cuba", which 
includes descriptions and original photos of most of the (published and 
unpublished) Cuban Jurassic vertebrate specimens from various collections.

Inside the portal, you can navigate through the different sections covering the 
Jurassic of Cuba and through the main collections. The sections on 
invertebrates, plants, fish, marine reptiles, pterosaurs and dinosaurs include 
a summary and original images, skeletal drawings and nice life restorations of 
several paleoartists. However, the central and most important part of the 
catalogue are the collections and their vertebrate specimens. Collections have 
their own description and a hyperlink to a list of their specimens. You can 
access each specimen to see details (metadata) and photos.

This project also includes a text (in preparation) and is an effort of M. 
Iturralde-Vinent and I with the main goal of putting together all the 
information on Cuban Jurassic vertebrate specimens available to the scientific 
community, so that paleontologists can review, comment, and even identify the 
Cuban specimens (you must be registered). In the left, "The catalogue" block is 
still imcomplete, but you can find in the block a draft of the "Previous work", 
"Geological settings" and "Acknowledgements".

This first draft of this catalog will be available for one month in this URL, 
until DATE, so we can receive your comments before the permanent version is 
established. The site is optimized for Firefox and IE8+. If you have any 
question or suggestion, please reply off list.

por favor encuentren en línea (en: https://cubanjurassic.uci.cu/) la primera 
versión del "Illustrative Catalogue of Late Jurassic Vertebrates from Western 
Cuba" (Catálogo Ilustrado de vertebrados del Jurásico Superior de Cuba 
occidental), el cual incluye descripciones y fotos originales de la mayoría de 
los ejemplares de vertebrados del Jurásico Superior de Cuba (publicados y no 
publicados) de varias colecciones.

Dentro del portal, es posible navegar por las diferentes secciones que cubren 
el Jurásico de Cuba y a través de las colecciones de museos. Las secciones 
(sobre invertebrados, plantas, peces, reptiles marinos, pterosaurios y 
dinosaurios) incluyen un breve resumen e imágenes originales. Sin embargo, la 
parte central y más importante de este catálogo son las colecciones y sus 
ejemplares. Las colecciones tienen su propia descripción y un enlace a sus 
ejemplares. Es posible acceder a cada ejemplar para ver sus datos y galería de 
fotos.

Este proyecto incluirá además un texto (en preparación), y es un esfuerzo en 
colaboración con M. Iturralde-Vinent con el objetivo de concentrar toda la 
información posible sobre los ejemplares de vertebrados del Jurásico Superior 
de Cuba y poner esta información disponible en línea para la comunidad 
científica, para que de esta forma especialistas e investigadores puedan 
revisar, comentar e incluso si es posible identificar las muestras (para 
comentar es necesario estar registrado).

Esta primera versión del Catálogo estará disponible en línea por un mes en esta 
URL, hasta , para así recibir sus comentarios antes de que se establezca la 
versión permanente. El sitio está optimizado para los navegadores Firefox e IE
