Well, I was inaccurate...
the titles of the cartoon series were actually renamed as I wrote, while the
surnames weren't translated.
In Italian two words are required to translate: this is probably why the series
were renamed.
In Italy the Flintstones become very famous in the sixties/seventies because
they were used to advertise a brand of insecticide.

In Italian the Flintstones were renamed "Gli Antenati" (the Ancestors) while
the Jetsons were "I pronipoti" (the grandnephews)

(Example, in German, "Fuersteins", as flint is "fire-stone".) Others???
