Paleontology for Educators Workshop at Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology
This message is primarily directed towards science teachers in southern
California. If you know anyone who might fit this criterion, please feel free
to forward it to them.
*******************
The Paleontology for Educators Workshop will provide teachers with a
museum-based, hands-on introduction to paleontology, the study of past life.
Each session will include a short course on paleontology, evolution, and earth
science, with the aim of illustrating how to present this material in an
interactive way to students.
Each of four sessions will be tailored to science standards for specific grade
levels. All sessions will be held at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology,
1175 West Baseline Road, Claremont, California 91711. Presenters will include
paleontologists Dr. Andy Farke and Dr. Don Lofgren, along with other museum
staff.
The workshop is free, and funded in part by a grant from the E.E. Ford
Foundation. Participants receive workshop materials, lunch, snacks, and $500
that may be applied to hiring substitute and/or purchasing classroom supplies.
For additional information, please call Andy Farke at 909-482-5244 or email
