I wonder if his rather sudden anti-science movement, had anything to do with 
his cancer. I don't remember hearing what type of cancer he had, but if it was 
a brain tumour, I could see it affecting his work.

Though, admittedly, I would imagine him writing in weird stuff that makes no 
sense (like a dinner party inside an el camino).
