This is absolutely incorrect and has been discussed  on this list before, but 
the myth continues. Knight's 1905 restoration of  Tyrannosaurus was painted 
before a skull had been prepared. The painting is  based on W. D. Matthew's 
original preliminary skeletal drawing.  See:

That Knight (along with Matthew and Osborn) would place the eye in the "wrong 
 skull socket" is absurd. DV
