All known Mesozoic nests were in any case large enough that such a
strategy would have been affordable.
In terms of incubating space, yes. But eggs are expensive! I read that the
bigger the parent/egg the bigger part of gross maternal expenditure it
costs! Anyway, it's such a nice idea--false eggs! Let's just eat all the
false eggs and leave all the reproducing eggs to do their thing. Unless
someone has a reference.
