Geomythology
the emerging discipline of Geomythology has been in the news lately,
as earth scientists are beginning to seek out and pay attention to
local oral traditions and perceptive knowledge of natural phenomena
like fossils and global warming and natural disasters like volcanoes,
tsumamis, and earthquakes.
For the first time, "Geomythology" has an extensive entry, with
definition and examples, in the most recent edition of the
Encyclopedia of Geology:
"Geomythology." In Encyclopedia of Geology, ed Richard Selley, Robin
Cocks, and Ian Palmer. Oxford: Elsevier, 2004.
