A new chapter in Australia's prehistoric past will be unveiled today when 
the largest dinosaur bones ever found in the country go on display for the 
first time in Brisbane. 

The remains of two giant titanosaurs - nicknamed Cooper and George - were 
found near the outback town of Eromanga in south-west Queensland. 

The biggest fossil, a 100-kilogram thigh bone, spans 1.5 metres. 

Queensland's Arts Minister Rod Welford says the mighty species roamed the 
country 98 million years ago. 

"These were plant-eating dinosaurs with extremely long necks and tails, 
massive bodies and elephant-like legs," he said. 

Mr Welford says it could lead to more discoveries. 

"About seven sites have been identified from hundreds of bone fragments 
since the fossil was uncovered in this area in 2004," he said. 

The huge leg bone suggests the dinosaurs were 26 metres long, dwarfing what 
was previously thought to be the country's largest specimen - Elliot the 
sauropod - found further north, near Winton...
