Chris Bennett's pteroid paper in JVP
I urge all pterosaur workers to take a good hard look at Chris
Bennett's new paper in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 27:
881-891.
"Articulation and function of the pteroid in pterosaurs."
Bennett details with many fossil samples the articulation of the
pteroid on the medial side of the preaxial carpal and the placement
of a sesamoid in the concavity of the preaxial carpal formerly (and
by some, currently) considered the articular site for the pteroid.
Then he reviews various possibilities and impossibilities in pteroid
movement and function.
Bennett makes sense and he shows evidence.
That was a great paper.
He nailed it.
