Might be interesting to look whether there are Oort
Cloud, Kuiper Belt, or other outer solar system
dynamics with such a periodicity. Because for all that
is said, the K-Pg bang was ultimately a one-time
event: the impacting body was destroyed. Where it came
from and why may be another matter. Maybe every 31
million years, the number of asteroids, mega-comets or
whatchamacallits send sunwards increses dramatically,
and thus the chance of collision with these things.
Travel time from the outer reaches of the solar system
is a blink of an eye compared to the supposed cycle's
duration (< to << than 1% of the cycle's duration),
