This conversation ("dinosaurs and birds") has started me wondering
again....were there any Mesozoic-era birds (by any definition - anything
closer than *Eotyrannus* is good) in the United Kingdom?
A crumb called *Wyleyia* (apparently Enantiornithes) and a neck vertebra
called *Thecocoelurus* (an oviraptorosaur). Both Barremian (middle Early
Cretaceous). That's it, AFAIK. The conditions for fossilization were not
good.
