Well, since Emus technically probably ARE dinosaurs, its not surprising. What is surprising is that it took someone this long to make the comparison, given than large flightless birds are so strikingly similar to Theropods (or simply a later version of the same).
Another Emu similarity - besides a generally nasty disposition, they have a very dangerous enlarged stabbing foot claw (straight, not curved) that they use for defense, much as Raptorial dinosaurs evolved a sickle-shaped claw for predatory purposes...
