DVPS Speaker for 10/26/06: Dr. Lauck (Buck) Ward on Ecphora Evolution
The Delaware Valley Paleontological Society
(In conjunction with our regular monthly meeting)
Presents:
Dr. Lauck (Buck) Ward
" Succession and Inferred Evolution of Ecphora "
Dr. Lauck W. Ward will speak about the evolution of the fossil snail,
ecphora. Dr. Ward is the Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology at The
Virginia Museum of Natural History. He's the leading authority of molluscan
biostratigraphy in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain. He's named many of the
stratigraphic layers of the Coastal Plain from Delaware through Georgia.
Dr. Ward has also named many genera, including the genus Chesapecten, and
has described numerous species of mollusks.
