They did have an exit strategy, though.

(OK. I'll stop contributing to this thread. Just couldn't resist. -- The 
Hittites basically entered history by suddenly making a rather inexplicable 
1000 km trip to Babylon, sacking it, and then going home, never to return 
IIRC.)
