Most of Europe got clobbered by another big epidemic in A.D. 443.
Again, many hisorians believe this was Bubonic Plague.

On the other hand, some think that the medieval "Black Death" was not caused by *Yersinia pestis* at all, but by a virus similar to Ebola. The way it spread, the lack of reports of huge amounts of dead rats, and many more interesting details are used as evidence for this hypothesis.
