Removing of cypsum-crystals from fossil bone
Hi,
What is the safest method of removing outgrowth of cypsym-crystals from a
bone-surface?
I'm trying to slightly prepare the specimen of which I put a identification
question to vrtpaleo last week.
The answers so far indicate that the speciemen and the label are mixed, so
disrecard the label.
Also the outer structure and preservation seems to indicate that this is a
frontal-parietale with crushed braincase.
The most resonable suggestion so far has been that this is a large, prob.
North African, catfish.
Which corresponds nicely since we have some other catfish material in our
collection (finspine with associated cleithrum).
Cheers!
