He may have been referring to transgenic animals that have had human gene
sequences inserted into their genome. The amount of human DNA in them is
negligable, so they're not really 'hybrids' as such, however there are
concerns that such transgenic animals may increase the likelyhood of deadly
diseases being able to jump species barriers.
Way off topic though...
