Well that's certainly possible. And perhaps bending down to snarf up a
_Basilemys_ just wasn't worth the tyrannosaur's energy. A 1+-meter
individual weighed perhaps 400-500 pounds, and some of that weight was
bone, not protein.
OTOH, if tyrannosaurs ate _Basilemys_ at infrequent random opportunity,
it still could have had a major impact on the _Basilemys_ population.
Modern mega-tortoises (e.g., Galapagos) don't exactly breed like bunnies.
