And fie on those who say "but if there are only 8 planets they'll have to
change the textbooks." Well, duh! You can either do Science (in which
knowledge is tentative and accumulative and subject to additional
modifications with new study) or you can follow dogma.
In the same way, those biology textbooks had to change "birds evolved from
thecodonts" to "birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs" (or "birds are
theropod dinosaurs"). Though some textbooks have been slow to catch up.

Maybe not so.
"There is overwhelming evidence that Linneaus did not believe in fixity of

There are some modern creationists who do not believe in the fixity of
species. Instead, they believe that there was only a relatively small
number of species on Noah's ark, and these went on to evolve into all the
species we see today. For example, Mr and Mrs Bear came off the ark and
their children gave rise to all the various bear species (polar, grizzly,
panda, etc). Thus, these particular creationists accept microevolutionary
change, but not macroevolutionary change. That's all I'll say about this
tripe, because this topic is taboo on this list. I'm only addressing it in
the broader context of Linnaeus.
